The Television Championship is the culmination of the two monthly television competitions held during the academic year and a semifinal round for top scorers of those monthly competitions.

These five finalists submitted the top winning television reports from 174 entries received in the News and Features competitions.

During the Championship, the television finalists produced a report based on a spot assignment. Judges reviewed the work and selected the winners, who were announced at the awards ceremony on June 14.

THE ASSIGNMENT:

The television finalists were asked to make a 2-5 minute television report about “The County Opening up.”

After 14 months of the devastating toll of Covid-19, restrictions on our daily lives and economic hardship for many, the country is opening up. What does that look like? What does it mean?

The broadcast judges Candy Altman, Holly Quan and Joe Rovitto chose the assignment, reviewed the audio entries and selected the winners.
